About Stephanie
I am back, running again for Place 7 because I still believe I have the education and experience CISD’s Board of Trustees needs at this moment in history.
I am a former classroom teacher with a master’s degree in education from the University of Colorado. I taught in both an elementary and middle school setting and I have the utmost respect for the power of teachers in our children’s lives.
In addition to my time in the classroom, I was also a corporate trainer for Merrill Lynch for five years. I am currently an independent facilitator for the Love and Logic Institute and an active CISD substitute teacher. And, in my mid-40s, I found yet another way to teach - this time as a fitness instructor, which I do today.

I have been married for 26 years and I’m the mother of four Dragons - two Carroll graduates and two current Dragons. We are on our 7th year in Southlake and we’re committed to having all four of our kids graduate from Carroll Senior High School. Over the course of our marriage, we have lived in 5 different states in different regions of the country. I have personally visited 48 of the 50 states; I just have North Dakota and Alaska left.

I have spent the better part of the last 20 years as what my family and I have coined a “professional volunteer” in my community and more specifically, in my children’s public schools.
Starting with leading moms’ groups when my oldest was an infant to leading math groups in my children’s classrooms, facilitating Junior Great Books discussions during lunch recess, serving as PTO president two separate times, coaching Girls on the Run which led to training the volunteers who later coached Girls on the Run, coordinating teacher appreciation week celebrations, being a copy mom, leading the high school swim team parent group, hosting team parties, and much more. I am currently the president of Southlake Association of Gifted & Talented, and on the exec board of Young Men’s Service League where I enjoy serving our community alongside my sons.
The joke in our house is, “You volunteered again???”

When I’m not volunteering or teaching fitness classes, you’ll see me running around Southlake. I have completed 13 marathons including Boston, New York, and Chicago, one 50k to celebrate my 50th birthday, and a 50 mile trail run last February. I also enjoy reading, primarily non-fiction. Listening to podcasts helps the miles on my runs go by more quickly with two of my favorites being This Podcast Will Kill You and My Favorite Murder.
